Women in Franchising, Inc. (WIF)

  • educates women, minorities, the physically challenged and others about franchising;
  • provides franchise-related consulting services to prospective franchisees and franchisors; and
  • assists franchisors in recruiting and retaining women, minorities and the physically challenged as franchise small business owners;
  • collects, compiles and analyzes data on the status of women and minorities in franchising.

Founded in 1987 and located in Chicago , Illinois, WIF has developed specialized skill and knowledge in the evaluation, financing and purchase of franchised businesses.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

WIF offers expertise in the development, coordination and implementation of franchise business training seminars and workshops on a national basis. Women in Franchising educates women, minorities and the physically challenged about franchising, and trains franchisors in marketing and development in these special markets.

FEDERAL CONTRACTS

WIF is a federal contractor with the United States Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), under a program designed to accelerate the growth of minority franchises. WIF also holds a federal contract with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) to research the status of minorities and women in franchising, and recommend innovative financing strategies.

CONSULTING SERVICES

WIF assists women and minorities with expansion of their existing businesses via franchising: from initial "Feasibility Study" to determine your readiness to franchise, through detailed Operations Manuals and sales/marketing guidance. WIF also provides one-on-one assistance to those considering buying a franchise, with special emphasis on the "Business Review of a Franchise Offering Circular" -- the UFOC Review -- an indispensable, in-depth written evaluation not available anywhere else.

SPECIALIZED ASSISTANCE

WIF is the first and only firm to provide specialized assistance to Native American entrepreneurs and tribal governments, offering consulting, seminars and workshops, and franchisor trade missions to bring franchise opportunities to Native Americans.

INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

WIF offers key guidance to franchisors interested in international expansion, through trade missions and liaison services. Current focus: China. We also assist foreign companies interested in franchise development in the U.S.
